Shallow, footed bowl decorated strongly from the Tek-Sing. The Tek Sing was an ocean going junk which set sail from the port of Amoy (now Xiamen in Fuijan province) in 1822. She was so laden with items on deck and lashed to the sides that she almost inevitably sank. She was recovered in 1999 and the treasure was auctioned in Stuttgart in 2000AD. Scholars were very surprised to see that the porcelain part of the treasure was up to 100years old. Northern Qi 550-577AD
Northern Qi (550-577AD) horse with red harness and red necklet with tassles. The chest adorned with a band suspending seven large conch shaped tassles with bronze bells attached. Hollow back with long crimson saddle cloths flaring widely to either side and impressed with floral patterns. The rounded haunches covered with textiles with three tassles below either side, with 21 half round decorations. The head has a floral plume. Beautifully sculpted head. A similar figure with straw coloured glaze exists in the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, illustrated in (Chinese ceramics in the Avery Brundage collection) 1967 plate 17. Much pigment remaining. 32cm long x 42cm high. (CA5)

Tek-Sing
A large footed bowl (28cm wide) from the Tek-Sing, an ocean going junk which sailed from the port of Amoy (now Xiamen in Fuijan province) in 1822. It sank due to being vastly overloaded and was salvaged in 1999. The porcelain on board was up to 100 years old and consequently this piece dates between 1721 and 1821. The wear in the middle is due to stacking and the effect of the sea over about 180 years, but the maker's mark is clearly distinguishable. (Tek-Sing 31).

A Tang dynasty (618-907AD) fine equestrian hunting figure. The Central Asian rider naturalistically modelled with a stern expression, arms raised to hold the horses reins and seated with a saddle over a saddle cloth with a dog seated behind. The red pottery horse standing four square with the mane of originally organic material now gone, the head strongly modelled with bulging eyes, flaring nostrils and open mouth. A similar group was unearthed from the tomb of a Tang dynasty official and his wife on the outskirts of Xi'an in Shansi province. She was so laden with items on deck and lashed to the sides that she almost inevitably sank. She was recovered in 1999 and the treasure was auctioned in Stuttgart in 2000AD. Scholars were very surprised to see that the porcelain part of the treasure was up to 100years old.
